CBPA Peace Walk ahead of 2024 Elections at Kpeve

In the lead-up to the 2024 General Election, the Citizens Burea  ofPublicAccountability(CBPA), in collaboration with inter-faith group  and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), organized a symbolic Peace Walk at Kpeve, the capital of the South Dayi District in the Volta Region of Ghana. This event, held with the aim of promoting unity and peaceful coexistence amongelectorats and politicalparties alike, brought together people from various religious backgrounds and communities to affirm their commitment to peaceful elections.


The walk, which began at the Kpeve New Town through the principal street to Old Townand back to the main lorry station, included participants from diverse faiths, traditional authorities, youth groups, and civil society organizations. The event was marked by speeches from key representatives, including leaders from Christian, Muslim, and traditional faith groups, who emphasized the importance of tolerance, understanding, and respect for all viewpoints during election 2024.


CBPA Executive Director, alongside representatives from the NCCE, highlighted the significance of nonviolent communication and responsible civic engagement, urging community members to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and promote peaceful dialogue.


As the participants walked side by side, carrying placards with messages such as “United for Peace,” “Your Vote, Your Voice,” and “Say No to Violence,” the event underscored a powerful message: peace and democracy are collective responsibilities. The walk concluded with a prayer for the nation and a shared commitment to uphold peace throughout the election process and beyond.


The CBPA Peace Walk at Kpeve not only fostered solidarity but also reminded everyone that together, they hold the power to shape a future of harmony and progress.
